Patricia McConnell "Education of Will"
Baraboo Public Library
Join us at the Baraboo Public Library at 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 18 as internationally acclaimed animal behaviorist Dr. Patricia McConnell tells about the inspiration for her latest book, The Education of Will: A Mutual Memoir of a Woman and her Dog. When McConnell adopted Will, a Border Collie puppy, he seemed to have great potential as a pet and a working dog until he exhibited fearful and aggressive behavior that made her doubt her ability to help him reach his full potential. As she grappled with finding the key to shaping his behavior, she found her own past traumas causing greater disturbances in her daily life. Through working to understand her own trauma, she gained greater insight into Will’s behavior, and discovered a path to heal them both.
